Dog parks have become special places that bring together pet owners for recreational activities. They have become a regular, perhaps even daily, activity much like cycling, swimming, running or ball playing for many dogs and their owners.
Almost every city in Northwest Arkansas now has its own dog park where dogs can run off-leash and play with other dogs. Dog parks are also becoming popular in other areas of the country as well.
While there are plenty of fields and open spaces around town where dogs can play off-leash, dog parks provide a more structured environment. They usually have separate fenced sections for large and small dogs, as well as a third section with agility equipment for active pooches.
If you’re visiting Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, take your dog for a walk around their world-renowned grounds. You can find walking trails and trees throughout the 120 acres of outdoor space. Another great place to get the wiggles out is Compton Gardens & Arboretum.
Safety
A dog park can be a great place for your dogs to socialize, play, and exercise off-leash. However, it is important to know the safety measures that are in place for both you and your dog before allowing them to play at a dog park.
For example, the Bentonville Bark Park on North Walton Boulevard has separate sections for small and large dogs and is fenced in. This helps ensure the safety of all dogs using the park, as well as human visitors.
The Bentonville city council is dedicated to providing residents and visitors with safe parks that are equipped with proper safety measures. There are a variety of parks in Bentonville and Bella Vista AR that have amenities such as playgrounds, pavilions, walking trails, food trucks, a cherry blossom orchard, Pickleball courts, an archery range, and more. These parks are perfect for families to spend time together. Whether you want to take a walk in the park or just relax with your family, Bentonville, and Bella Vista have some of the best parks in the state.
Socialization
Whether you have a dog or not, there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the outdoors in Northwest Arkansas. From hiking to exploring the world-renowned Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, there is something for everyone and every pet!
Bark parks allow dogs to socialize in a safe and controlled environment where they can run, play, sniff, and explore without the worry of being off their leash. Unlike playgrounds, which are largely designed for children, bark parks are multigenerational spaces that cater to dog owners and their pets.
The 1.3-acre off-leash recreation zone features separate areas for large and small dogs, as well as an agility course. The park is free to use, but donations are accepted for the maintenance of the park and its amenities. Donors of $5,000 or more will be recognized on Marquis signage. There are also benches and a splash pad for humans and dogs.
Training
There are a number of dog training programs available at the park that can help you ensure your pup has the best chance for success in the park. One such program is Newman’s Dog Training, which offers science-based training to help you train your dog and get the results you want.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the outdoors with your pup in Bentonville, check out Tanyard Creek Nature Trail. This trail is less than 20 minutes from downtown Bentonville and features beautiful natural settings, easily accessed waterfalls, outdoor sculptures, and atmosphere structures designed by artist James Turrell.
The city of Bentonville also has a Bark Park where dogs can go to burn off extra energy and socialize without their owners. The 1.3-acre off-leash recreation area, located west of the North Bentonville Trail, began as a Girl Scout Gold Award project and opened in 2008.
